RE: It has been a while! - bcshaves - 01-16-2021

Just checked they are 27 pounds for 100 blades. But they sell a 200 tray.

Maybe we can all organize a featherweight shave day to honor your intentions.

That would be nice but I would not be able to join as I do not have a featherweight at this time. Could you tell me the vendors?

If you would like to try some different blades pop me an addy. I can send some treet carbon steel and some GEM stainless blades. I have plenty of both.

I think I will do that. How are the Treet carbon steel?

I much prefer carbon steel. Smoother from the start. They do need to be dried off after the shave. Some say they do not last as long as Stainless. I don’t know about that. I will let you try them and decide.

How many shaves do you get out of them?

I dunno. Really I do not count. I might do a test over my next videos. See how many shaves I get.

Yeah I don't count either. When my 1912 comes in I am going to test it and compare it to my favorite unmentionable. I want to see which gives me more shaves.

This is a super easy question for Fuzzy (Wchnu) to answer.  Word on the street is that he obsessively counts his shaves with each blade (and razor), uses some 20-sided dice from his Dungeon & Dragons game (I hear he's a 13th-level Dungeon Master) to keep track, and then he enters the final numbers into multiple spreadsheets -- which are stored on his many high-end gaming computers.  Plus he tracks his shaves with an app on his phone....[Image: lol.gif]

Okay -- I'm just tugging on Fuzzy's whiskers -- he is not a shave-blade counting kind of guy.  He uses a blade until it gives out, and then pitches it and moves on; and I don't believe he pays a lick of attention as to how many shaves he got out of the blade -- but maybe he'll prove me wrong when he shows up and drops the proverbial hammer on me.  Cool

And while I'm not quite the person described above (I've never played D&D), I used to keep track and I found that I could get 15+ shaves from my GEM SS PTFE blades versus a maximum of 5 shaves with the Carbon blades.  I will say that all 5 shaves with the Carbon are smooth, while the first couple of shaves with the Gem SS PTFE are harsh (but the remaining 13 are really nice).  So I like and use both blades, but I'm pretty cheap and like the longevity I get from the SS blades.   Just thought I'd jump into this conversation, and have some fun with Fuzzy.

I am going to have fun picking out new mods after I ban you and Ordinaryshaver...

But really. Great to see you. I will be interested to find out if there really is that big a gap in the number of shaves.  I will start that here soon. Maybe even start a thread on it.

Great to see you by the way!!
