Man I am so glad Glenlivet has rereleast their 12 year again. I know they ran out and replaced it with their no date Founders Reserve which I just could never warm up to. And I sincerely tried. Lol. I just didn't like it...didn't hate either...but the new 12 is G-R-E-A-T! No longer just a good starter malt, it's personally one of my faves.

Oh yes...Teachers Highland Cream is GOOD AGAIN!!!
I remember for years the 2 Great inexpensive blends were Teachers Highland Cream and White Horse. Then Teachers was bought out and the recipe changed and it was grainy and bottom shelf tasting...The new owners were using different malts and more grain...disaster, a legend was lost...few years later it changed again and was better but no cigar...White Horse was still good, but Teachers was a pleasant memory.

Now...Teachers is GREAT again. It's not exactly like it was, if anything it's better than it ever was. This is Veddy Veddy good news. And the price is still right but it's taste is way above its price and with a bit of smoke. Now I think it even holds its own with blends like JW Black Label...YMMV, but in my opinion I think it is more interesting...
Cheers!

So would you like to join me in a "snort", I mean a sip of a pleasant Scotch sometime?

I said just the other day I needed to try a bit of this stuff. Perhaps soon.

The thing about adding a little water is some Scotch the alcohol taste is so strong...a touch of water helps to taste the fruitiness under that alcohol burn...But my favourite Scotches don't need it.

If I'm drinking Scotch with friends that are drinking beer...I'll put a couple ounces in a tall glass and add ice and soda or Sprite....I have no problem with doing that. It tastes great and you can hang and not get wasted.

I'll even do that with a great single malt...the better the Scotch the better even a cocktail tastes. I mean I won't do it with a $100 bottle, both with a 12 year old single malt or a great blend. Over 2 cubes of ice, fill glass with lemon soda and a touch of mint...it's like a Scottish Mojito!

I like the smokey, peaty island malts myself. I just finished a bottle of Talisker, and I have a fresh bottle of Laphroaig to replace it. Tonight I'm going to sip cognac, Courvoisier.

I dig all of the above....Lagavulin 16 a fav but getting too pricey....and Courvousier VSOP was my go to back in my 20's touring with bands days.... Freddie Hubbard introduced me to it. I asked him what the VSOP meant. He said "This is for when the occasion calls for champagne but 'balls' are in order""...lol! Freddie was a card! The baddest trumpet player of several generations and unique in every way. You know he and Herbie Hancock had that group called VSOP... That project was sponsored by Remy Martin.
