RE: November 2021 Haul - Old Sarge - 11-28-2021

While picking up some groceries on Black Friday, I happened to be driving by a local antique store and scored my first Shick Injector Razor, Type J2 I believe. Since the photo, I've given it a soak/scrub in hot water/dawn detergent. It cleaned up well. It came with a twinjector blade loaded. I'm debating whether or not to push the old blade out and clean again/barbicide head soak...or just push a new blade in and then take those steps.

I just push a new blade in on mine.  They are designed to load with a blade in the razor.  They came new with a blank in the razor so it wouldn't be loaded from empty the first time.

Thanks Whiterook! There may have been a few decades old build up of "stuff" that came out when I did the cleaning...gross! So, you'd think I'd be good to go to just load a new blade now and then do one more soak/scrub in detergent followed by a ten minute babicide bath for the head?

That should work.  Usually the new blade pushes the crud out.

I just have to get the motivation to find a way to notch the back of the blade accurately.

I have that problem covered and will give this a go when it arrives. Not sure what the exposure of the blade would have to do whether it is approved or not but King Fuzzy obviously has the final say. I never saw any benefit to the back side of the blade anyway as the angle was all off to use well. Only really stuck with using 1 side like a single edge. What say you Wchnu ?

Hey, Dave...not sure if you noticed, but your 4 second video is closing in on 1,800 views. I wonder if the title, Metal Nippers, has anything to do with it's popularity!  Big Grin You see, I was correct when I called you a YouTube star!  Thumbsup
