Stropping/Honig a Rolls blade. - Tony'schin - 07-19-2020 Hi all, Has anyone come up with a way to make a stropping / honing handle to take a Rolls blade so I can strop the blade independently from the main carriage and on a stone or paddle. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. T RE: Stropping/Honig a Rolls blade. - joelkerr - 09-01-2020 I know that Keith Johnson has a video or two where he came up with a solution for this situation. Here's one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohegVxHksk8. I've never tried it myself. I always just placed the razor on the stone for honing (I taped the spine). It was awkward, but it worked. But my Rolls got so little use I eventually traded it away - if I were to use it more often, I would definitely get tired of this method and would build something like Keith's contraption. Funnily enough i did just that , although not as fine a mod, i stripped out the blade holder from a spare i had and fitted a plastic tube (a syringe actualy) over the blade holder, it seems to work well although i did not fully hone the blade, it was an old one full of chips so these have been removed, i may have to revisit the project after seeing that video. Thanks for posting it.
