Penn safety razor - kyle3rv - 05-15-2021 So I just picked up a Penn safety razor on a hunch. Well my theory was correct they can in fact securely hold injector blades. I haven't tried a shave yet. The razor can hold the blade with both a more aggressive exposure like in the picture or a much more mild exposure. You just slide the injector blade in and tighten the handle and the handle screw locks it in just like the original blades. RE: Penn safety razor - Dave in KY - 05-15-2021 Noice !! RE: Penn safety razor - kyle3rv - 05-16-2021 Ok first shave down push about half the blade under the topcap otherwise it's too aggressive. RE: Penn safety razor - Wchnu - 05-16-2021 That right there is what i am talking about. Taking a vintage razor and putting it back in to use. Gotta gotta gotta love that. Thanks for sharing!!!!!! RE: Penn safety razor - Jayaruh - 05-16-2021 Cool. RE: Penn safety razor - Dave in KY - 05-21-2021 I'm blaming kyle3rv for my spent $8.......The soap in the mug handle hole was cleaned after the pic RE: Penn safety razor - Wchnu - 05-21-2021 (05-21-2021, 08:34 PM)Dave in KY Wrote: I'm blaming kyle3rv for my spent $8.......The soap in the mug handle hole was cleaned after the pic Nice catch!! Nice mug!! RE: Penn safety razor - Dave in KY - 05-28-2021 Friday May 28, 2021 Razor: Penn (Non-Adjustble) Blade: Schick B20 Injector (1) Brush: Trotter Handcraft Scoville/Synbad Soap: Stirling Blood on Steel AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Aqua Velva Fragrance: Guerlain Vetiver Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 933 I have a Penn Adjustable coming that I may or may not be able to get a modern blade to work in from reading about them but this Non-Adjustable model is easy to set an Injector blade at your desired level of aggression. I noted the angle was a challenge for some areas to get for example the wtg (North to south) close under my nose but subsequent passes in other directions took care of any stubble. Got a nice close shave and would consider this a mild shaver if paying attention. Maintaining the proper angle allows you to buff and do multiple passes to clear the stubble and end with stellar results. I thank kyle3rv for his enabling me and bringing this razor to my attention. Another win for a Vintage razor that can be used today with modern blades and a nod to my Birth State of Pennsylvania. Have a great day Everyone ! I guess that's a matter of opinion. The factory blade, or what I assume is the factory blade, overhangs the guard. When it's like this it pushed the blade fairly hard into the face. I have good technique and can shave with just about any razor I pickup but I found this very harsh. Essentially open blade. I found it much more comfortable and still efficient to put about half the blade lined up with the front edge of the topcap. (05-28-2021, 10:47 AM)Dave in KY Wrote: Friday May 28, 2021Awesome. I posted in toast about witch safety razors working with gem blades with an easy mod. You should grab one if you don't have it. Gives a fantastic lather catcher like shave. |
