Ronson Razors - Whiterook - 11-21-2021 Razor: Ronson Shaves and Sharpens Blade: Personna Injector Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Synthetic Pre-Shave: Proraso White Aftershave: Duke Cannon Supply Company Ice Cold Balm Additional Care: Thayers Facial Tonic Witch Hazel Unscented Imperial Leather Talcum Powder This razor is like the Jones Shake Sharp in that it uses a double edged blade, but you only shave with one side. The other side rides on rollers which can be used to sharpen that side of the blade. The mechanism can be used to flip the blade when needed. The original blades were proprietary, but injector blades and be fitted just fine with some fiddling. I use a blade blank on the other side so that the blade assembly is properly supported. Half DE blades can be used as well. They actually shave nicely and are worth a try if you come across one! RE: Ronson Razors - Whiterook - 11-21-2021 I have a Jones, but it is broken, so I haven't tried one. I am very pleased with my Eco, so I get the Idea. You might want to give your Ronson another chance. Did you use an Injector blade or a half DE? You might want to give your Ronson another chance. Did you use an Injector blade or a half DE? I used an injector but I did not put anything on the other side to balance it either. I've already put something on the other side and have it set up for tomorrow shave because you have given me the motivation to give it another shot before I even read this ! I'm sorry your Shake Sharp is broken. With a double stacked de blade it is one of my all-time favorite razors for smoothness and closeness. It doesn't hurt that I'm a total sucker for early 20th Century design (Art Deco with a dash of Steampunk I guess). I miss the fact that everyday things could be expressive and interesting just because. Amen RE: Ronson Razors - RobinK - 05-02-2025 I've not seen one like this for a while and the price is much too high for my budget. But maybe someone else is interested in them? They really are very pretty. Not sure whether live links to auctions are allowed. If not, apologies a s feel free to nuke this post. (Fuzzy was here) |
