DIME Razor Blade Mod - Rocketman - 02-07-2024

The Dime razor was an International Safety Razor Co. competitor starting in the early 1900s  (Patent Dec 1907) . As the package indicates, it cost 10c and was therefore a much more affordable competitor to the Kampfe, GEM, ASR and Gillette razors. The proprietary blade was a simple rectangle and the blades were sold as disposable.

“When blade is dull throw it away”

There are a couple of ways to experience this wonderful little razor:

1. Simply use a Feather Haney SE

2. Modify a standard GEM Ptfe

I am a fan of the Feather blades and try to always at least have them on hand for Auto Strops.
They fit perfectly into the DIME.

The DIME has a very simple wire guard, which as the instructions point out allows for a very comfortable and effective slant/diagonal stroke. The wire guard slides easily at any direction you choose helping significantly to create a slant stroke. It weighs almost nothing (Dave in KY indicates just under 2 ounces) and is a lot of fun to shave with.

Try a Feather in your DIME. A wonderful shave for a razor well over 100 years old.
