Below photos of the last items from my recent spending spree. While the Gem Junior Bar was a more extravagant purchase, the focus on these razors was to get user grade/daily drivers to learn with.
I had already shared, on a post about cleaning razors, some photos of the 1914 ER and the Gem Damaskeene from the Ebay listing. The other purchase was for the 1924 ER Shovelhead in case w/ blades and the 1912 ER that the seller included as an extra. I've got a bit of cleanup work ahead. In the end, as long as I can shave with them comfortably, it will be a win. I'm in less the $50 total and if we didn't have to pay shipping and tax I could knock off a third of that...and we'd all do a happy dance!
And if this applies to you, who else thinks it's a crime that we are taxed for shipping on Ebay?
Some initial impressions. The Art Deco style handle on the 1912 ER has a substantial weight to it and feels real good in the hand. The 1914 ER feels the lightest with the top cap being very light and "flimsy", which kind of surprised me. I can see from the "tininess" of the top cap why there was so much feedback in Dave in KYs video. The 1924 ER also has a substantial weight with the top cap being uber solid, but the angle of the head where the handle connects and the length of the handle make the handle feel even shorter. And like Goldilocks...the Damaskeene feels just about right!
I apologize in advance if this is too many photos. Just wanted to document the before and after on how the razors turned out after cleaning.
