In the USA, the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Pilgrims to celebrate and thank God for a successful harvest. But I think it was a 2fer since it was celebrated on Sept. 28th which is also the birthdate of the Messiah. Yes, I know it's celebrated on Dec 25th, but that's incorrect. Later Thanksgiving day was changed to the last Thurs' of Nov'.
