That scuttle looks interesting too!!

Age - Not really. I wanted to think it was from the 1800s, but the Canadian location in Montreal seemed only to open in 1922 and was open well past the time of these barber’s bars. I havent noticed advertisements for the Barber’s Bar much past the 1920’s so it would be somewhere in between 1922 and the end date of selling them - whenever that was.

Likely 1920’s is my poorly researched guess!

Scuttle - thanks! It is nothing terribly special, but I really like it and have had it for years now. I keep trying to use the darn thing since there used to be so many, but I’m not a huge fan of them. I have left a Williams puck in it for use and it works ok. But unless you leave it in a chronic sudsy mess, it is more work than worth. I believe though most men don’t really care much about shaving items so sudsy scuttle and brush may have been fine for the regular Joe Shaver.

I imagine in the day when you needed to bring hot water to where you shave it would have been quite handy, but now not so much.  I do use a heavier plain mug like this though to bring hot water for outdoor shaves in the backyard. (Thankfully my nearest neighbour is 3 miles so I dont get many weird looks!)
