I want to thank Dave in KY for being so generous in sending me a PIF care package. From this package in today's shave I used the Gem Featherweight and a GEM SS PFTE blade.
What was it our Mother's told us after you fell off you bike and scratched you knee? If first you don't succeed, try, try again! I did not have the most successful shave today. There are a number of things that could have contributed; new to Williams soap, new razor, new type of blade, fourth day shaving in a row, and most likely the real reason...I changed my shaving music to Yo-Yo Ma! Bottom line, I'm a FNG-SE shaver and there are going to be days like this! I'll get back on the horse tomorrow, albeit with an unmentionable to allow my skin an easier day. The good news is for the first time I was able to shave one complete pass using a SE razor!
Thanks again to Dave for his generosity and kindness!

That looks like a beautiful Featherweight Deluxe. I hope you get the hang of it quickly. I love mine.

Yes, Sir...it is a lovely razor! Somebody told me, maybe it was you, that using a mild razor like the Featherweight is good to take the bite/harshness off a new blade. Maybe not so much for me! I think maybe I started the shave a bit overconfident, as I was on a pretty good run since I gave up doing a third pass ATG.

Just a reminder if you've already heard it or a heads up if you haven't. Using almost ZERO pressure with an SE is a good practice for most people. Angle and pressure are really important. And I have to remind myself of that constantly BTW.

I lean on mine pretty good, no pressure = no shave.
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

I tend to shave like that when I'm not thinking about it. However the times I really concentrate on just tickling away the whiskers with the proper angle are usually the best shaves. I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone though.

No information with this razor that I have NEVER seen another of. I am told by Jeff jmudrick it is made by Traut and Hine before their Dandy razor but that still doesn't give me a name and neither does the box. The only info on the razor is Patent Nov 14, 1911 and that matches the Patent info found ( Thanks riverrun ) I believe I will dub it the RWNN (Razor With No Name) Have a great Wednesday everyone !
Awesome. I will check out the video soon.
Happy shaves to ya!

Hey, Wchnu! I think that was part of the issue as well at what GAW9576 was saying about the pressure. With the new razor, new blade, and new soap...I was trying to focus on too many things and in the end focused on nothing. If that make any sense. I'll get back on the horse!
