I'm considering which GEM to use for Micromatic Monday. Just to add a little spice to the thread, when did you first here of an GEM and how did you first come by which blades to use?
If was probably Spring of 2018 and I bought three of the blade options from Try-A-Blade. THere was a "Blue" carbon that came that was no coated and pretty rough to use.
My first GEM was the Micromatic with blade bumps. I was able to get user information from Google Books.

I did a bit of searching in that other place. Here is what I found on the original Micromatic Monday. I believe this was my first ever SE shave other than disposable SEs which don't count in my book.

I remember in the 50s seeing the Gem Featherweight that my mother used to shave her legs. I guess I considered it a lady's razor because my dad used a Schick or an unmentionable.
When I got involved with wet shaving as a hobby, I found the Micromatics. Here are a couple of my first Gem acquisitions in 2012: the Push Button and an MMOC.

The Jayaruh Brushes - The Clan of Catchers

I am convinced that MM thread sold a lot of GEM razors and PTFE blades. I almost recall your first visit because it wasn’t as pleasurable as it is now.

For me it was probably 2019 when I first started looking at the shaving forum. It was probably your MM thread in that other place that got my attention. The first razor I got was a shovelhead, but the blade stops were gone. I then picked up a bumped MMOC and CVS carbon blades. Having survived that, I bought some PTFE blades off eBay. I'm in for tomorrow with a Push-Button.
