September 2021 Haul
#1
Bunch of stuff recently I've been sorting thru slowly. Bought an Ever Ready Case with Mirror that had a Damaskeene Gem and what I really saw and WANTED........Travel size Bone Handle Star Little Brudder for my Bone handle Star Brush and also a Canister for it. Glad I spotted this all for $25 Brush next to it's only 22mm Big brother which gives and idea to how small it is. A test lather with it after soaking the boar yielded great results with minimal shedding that I hope disappears as I think it will as used.

Even though I posted some of these pics to the Treet thread, I wanted to post again under the Catch of the Day, as the Chairwoman of my Finance Committee has put austerity measures in place on my shaving procurement for an unknown time period!  Big Grin While I do have a Yaqi brush enroute on the literal slow boat from China...I'm unsure when I will have the enjoyment of these new equipment postings!

This arrived late last week and is only my second vintage SE razor. It's purchase was inspired by seeing video of Wchnu shaving with a baton-handled razor. Thanks to the Google search gods, I stumbled across it for sale online at a used book store in Utah. They only had one picture showing it in the box with the back of the razor facing up. I took a leap of faith, not knowing exactly the condition of the razor but feeling pretty good about it as the box showed to be in good condition.

The razor head has been cleaned in Dawn dish soap and Scrubbing Bubbles, followed by a short bath in Barbicide. I only lightly scrubbed the handle with soapy water. Although I plan to buy some Flitz polish in the future for some of my other vintage razors, no polish has been used. It's in great shape and I plan to begin my SE journey by shaving with it on my cheeks/neck to begin with. Once I get to the point I can complete an entire shave, I will post a SOTD.

BTW...I sorted out my struggles with the correct size for edge to edge pics. When resizing, a pixel count of 1000 worked for me.

In my mind I've had some unbelievable fortune finding vintage razors, this one online and eight others from local antique stores (ahem...seven unmentionables). In retrospect, there is only one of them that I have any regret for...and it was my first purchase so I guess I can be forgiven for not knowing the appropriate standard. It's truly amazing the like-new condition of some vintage razors in the wild. It's probably a good thing I'm operating under austerity measures, as I can't imagine having the same luck in the future. This won't stop me from occasionally "driving by" the antique stores...the real drama will be when/if I find another unbelievable purchase and have to consider pulling out the credit card!!! We don't have a dog house, but I may have to see if I've got an old army cot up in the attic!  Big Grin

TobyC called me a cheap...................person but I was still hunting my Repeating injector razor A or B. I had been watching a B that for description had the typical "look at the pics for condition" The pics were horrendous. I messaged for better pics. No response and it didn't sell. Relisted with same lousy pics and messaged again with no response or change in pics. Didn't sell again. I get a response with 4 more LOUSY pics sent to me. I watched and no bids and didn't sell. Relisted again and I watched and decided to take a chance and put the minimum bid on it and won it. Here's the descriptive photos for condition. Glad I got it. Will clean up great and is in a soap soak now. I'm Cheap and Happy  Big Grin

So after a soap and toothbrush cleaning I may leave the patina rather than shining it up at least for now. It appears though that I'm missing the blade tray and I had to manually load a new blade. Unless that is the tray in the 1st pic but I believe that is just a guide for the tray. I may need a tray if anyone has a spare (let me know.)

Great catch Dave in KY. I really enjoy my B and C repeaters. I am also looking for an A. I just need an A an F and an O to have one of each of the Schick injector alphabet. BTW I really like the patina on that razor.
