Gnarliest Lather Catcher
#1
I saw this Lather catcher on the bay. I had to have it. It is the nastiest razor I have seen. Wish me luck on cleaning it up. Hope I didn’t waste $20.

That blade might need to be stropped a little.  Big Grin

That looks like grunge on top of plating, which is on top of brass. Soak in soapy water over night and it may clean off easily.

Moving parts and threaded parts may need penetrating oil. (not wd40)
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

Exactly what I am hoping. I have found really cruddy razors in the wild like this. They tend to clean up ok. My biggest worry is the 4 adjusting screws. They will get a good soaking in liquid wrench.

The blade looked pristine to me. I will go with that for my first shave. I have all of my shots.

Just checked one of my other Lather catchers. It appears that I have this model already. Never knew what model it was. I never really looked. I can say I like the shave with a wedge blade. As I can dial it up as there are no blade stops. This new one will be my weekend project. If o get it by Friday.

You know how much a sawbuck is?

Sawbuck. Only vaguely recall that term. No idea!

I will post some good pictures of that fine blade.
