Friday Morning Redemption

Managed to fiddle a Personna Injector blade into the Enders Safety and voila a much better shave.
Still not convinced I like this funny, skinny little razor.

Alpha Shaving Company BIG RED Brush
Martin de Candre Nature Shave Soap
Proraso Red Splash On

Not pictured, my first pass was with a Rolls Razor that I recently acquired.  Basically it could shave but I think it needed a lot more hone and strop work.  It got me over the fear of the straight edge on a stick and proved it would shave a bit.  Finished with the Empire and that was last use of the Schick Injector modification blade.  It had lost it's efficiency.  Overall a good shave in the long run.

Wilkinson Sword Empire Razor
Schick Injector Blade (5X)
Mitchell's Wool Fat
AP ShaveCo Silksmoke Knot Brush
Proraso Red Splash On
Myrsol Agua de Limon Aftershave
That looks like you have a GEM spine on a Schick injector blade. Very interesting.

Yes.  For the Empire to work with modern blades you need a GEM Spine and an Injector blade.  Or I have one now using a cut down Feather AC Light Blade.  It definitely takes some fiddling around but you can get it to work.  Since the modern blades are good for 5-10 shaves, you don't have to keep repeating the loading, etc.  You can also run a de-spined GEM blade that is cut down at the bottom edges.  Similiar to what you need to do with making it usuable in a Valet VC1.  At least the fantastic Empire Razor lives to shave again.

Saturday Morning Further Experimentation

Sometimes I am a hard head.  I went back to the drawing board with the Vintage Enders blade and tried stropping it about 30-40 times.  It was much smoother (enough for a three pass shave) but the efficiency was also diminished.  Next trial is cutting down the stropping to just about five laps.  I have plenty of the NOS Enders Vintage blades to experiment on.  Actually dried down to a nice DFS shave.  Proof of Concept.

Enders Safety Razor
Enders Carbon Steel Vintage Blade (1X) - Stropped
Ariana & Evans Spartacus Shave Soap
Simpson Trafalgar T2 Brush

Lather Catcher Sunday's Cold Water Shave
Last Shave of 2023

Cold Water Rinse
Cella Shave Soap
Red and Black Badger by Tom
Superior Lather Catcher
Personna GEM SS PTFE
CWR
Cella After Shave Balm

The Cella Shave Soap lathered well with the Red and Black Badger Brush by Tom. Two passes and touch ups with the Superior Lather Catcher and a Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella After Shave Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

My A was sent to my old address. The people living there now apparently went home until classes start again. I hope to get it when they get back.
