Festival of Featherweights!
Williams Wednesday!
DE-less-cemBoar (™Wchnu)

Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather
Pre - Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave
Razor - Gem Heavy Flat Top
Blade - Gem SS PTFE (6th Use)
Brush - Omega 66 Boar
Lather - Williams Mug Shaving Soap, Face Lathered
Post - Generic Reformed Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue, Nivea Sensitive Balm

The Festival of Featherweights continues with a kissing cousin to the FW, the Heavy Flat Top. While there is a significant weight difference between a FW and a HFT, to my eye the head of the HFT is pretty close to the Gen II FW.

This is the first use of the Omega 66 boar, with it arriving just in time for DE-less-cemBoar (™Wchnu), or DEcemBoar later on in the month when I shave with an unmentionable. I gotta say, for an under $6 brush I liked it quite well. I made sure to load enough of the Williams for the first pass and hydrated it well during face lathering. The lather did not dry out during the first pass. However, I did have to go back to the puck for the second pass, but no real issue there. The 66 initially has decent backbone for its 55mm loft. I'm looking forward to seeing how it breaks in over time!

Well, I've held everyone in suspense for long enough. I had a very good two pass shave with the HFT. It's confounding why I'm not able to yet get the same with the Gen I FW, but tomorrow on to the Deluxe model!

The injector is a 1973 and later model, with the blade guard switch. It can handle twin blades, and that is what is in there.
Japanese Schick Injector II blade, razor set to 5, dropping to 1 for ATG for the mustache area.
I have been wondering about this. I have an M1 so I suppose a twin-blade will not work in it. I've been trying to find an L type or newer but the prices for them on the auction site have been unusually high lately.

I had to double-check to make sure I was seeing the right thing. I hadn't yet seen this razor referred to as Heavy Flat Top, rather as a G-Bar. I learn something new every day.

G-bar is just something that people started calling it. The actual company name is Heavy Flat Top.

I had a marvelous Williams Wednesday shave today complete with Aqua Velva after shave. However the real star of the show was the new to me 1887 Kampfe Brothers Star razor. This was my first shave with a wedge blade safety razor. Overall it was an excellent shave. Even though the seller did a great job honing the blades before sending the razor out, I could work on my stopping a bit to get the most out of them. The Williams lathered extremely easily with the Zenith Boar and the Aqua Velva was a fantastic finishing touch.

Festival of Feather-weights

I thought I would break out this unusual NOS Feather-weight for the festival I picked it up a while ago. The shipper is marked  both Gem and Ever-Ready, the box is Gem, the razor is Ever-Ready and the blades are all Gems. It is British made and exported to Australia and claims to be " the finest shaving instrument in the world"! A bold claim but it is pretty good.

Wow. Absolutely beautiful. I've seen just a few of the ER versions. Could you please post a picture of it with the thumb tab clearly visible. I'd like to see if they are based on 1st or 2nd Gen FWs. Of course if you can ID it as one or the other that would work but we all LOVE good pictures of beautiful razors.

Here is a picture of the cap as requested. I'm assuming this is a second Gen based on the ridges on the thumb tab? I'm no expert but it would very interesting g to know.

That is indeed one special razor that you were waiting on! And what a beautiful image, Greg. Me thinks you need to kick off the December Haul thread with some close up shots!!!

Thursday DecemBOAR 2, 2021
Razor: Vintage Unmentionable
Blade: Heavily Modified Unmentionable
Brush: Sad Stirling Boar
Soap: Gillette Cream
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea Deep
Fragrance: Scuderia Ferrari Black
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,121

Heavy modification of the blade was yielding a smooth close and actually fantastic shave before things went awry during the 3rd pass and literally BLEW apart. Glad I decide to do a video which captured it. The AC Style blade actually STUCK to me when it came out. Will revisit and fine tune the blade modification when I have more time. Seeing is believing.............watch the video after it uploads on YouTube. Can't post here as even though 1 side was used it is an Unmentionable. Have a great day !
