Vintage Wednesday
Pre: Shower
Brush: Vintage Vulfix service #3 1950's
Soap: Vintage GIBBS 1950's
Razor: GEM MicroMatic Open Comb
Blade: GEM Stainless PTFE (2)
Post shave: Cold water splash ,TC's Infused Witch Hazel
Balm: Barts Balm Rosemary and Sandalwood Balm
Aftershave: Proraso Red
[Image: P3050016.jpg]
The vintage Gibbs cream performs exactly as the Cussons cream and they both smell pretty similar, a clean, soapy scent.
Mixed in the heavyweight Captains choice copper bowl with the Vintage Vulfix, about an inch provided me with enough lather for the 3 pass shave.
I really enjoy using the Micromatic OC and today was no exception, a really close and mostly comfortable shave, i had a couple of indications on the neck under the chin from the aftershave. The area quietened down quickly, leaving me BBS, clean and fresh.
Stay Safe and enjoy your day All.

That is a beautiful razor and case.

I had a fun shave today with an Ever-Ready Streamline which is on loan to me from twhite.

Is it all I read it is ? How was the shave ?

RE: SOTD March 2021 - GAW9576 - 03-11-2021

Dave in KY I usually don't shave so frequently so I did get a small amount of irritation on my neck. I need to use it a few more times and be more careful with my technique. The weight is very nice in hand. It t seems to be a fair bit heavier than the MMOC. The heft makes me think of a particular unmentionable with a fat handle which is adjustable. But I'm not sure if the two would have been on the market at the same time. I'm terrible with keeping that stuff straight.

RE: SOTD March 2021 - GAW9576 - 03-12-2021

My second shave with the Ever-Ready Streamline on loan from twhite went better than the first.
I checked online for the instructions that come with the razors and found that they recommend not shaving with the cap flat to your skin like many of the Gem and Ever-Ready razors. This along with paying more attention to beard mapping and no pressure resulted in a closer more comfortable shave. I also had the most successful shave with a boar brush yet. I soaked it much longer than previously. Usually when I have used a boar brush the Lather starts good but dissipates quickly. This time however it wasn't an issue at all.
Also I borrowed the idea for the picture from Electrif. I liked the way one of his recent post pictures looked like a shadowbox display.
