RE: SOTD - December 2021 - GAW9576 - 12-03-2021 So yesterday's Ever-Ready 1909 shave went quite well with the carbon blade. Today's shave with an SS PTFE went even better. Not that I'm surprised. RE: SOTD - December 2021 - Old Sarge - 12-03-2021 ![]() Festival of Feather Weights! (Day 5 of 7) Mitchell’s Wool “Fat” Friday! DE-less-cemBoar (™Wchnu) Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather Pre - Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave Razor - Gem Gen. I Feather Weight Blade - Gem SS PTFE (8th Use) Brush - Omega 10290 Boar Lather - Mitchell’s Wool Fat, Face Lathered Post - Generic Reformed Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, Clubman Pinaud After Shave, Nivea Sensitive Balm I'm not saying I've got the Feather Weight deal figured out, but I had a pretty successful three pass shave. The Omega 10290 is new to me and this was it's first shave after a couple of test lathers. My initial impression is it's a nice sized knot for face lathering (24mm x 48mm), has a ton of backbone and has a long way to go until it feels smooth on the face. However, it hit the spot and did a great job with the MWF. I was only intending on going two passes, but the shave was going so well and the brush had plenty of lather left. Another pretty good deal from Connaught Shaving for under $6! I think I'm getting the Pressure and Angle figured out a bit more. I did have some irritation and a few weepers, but having only been doing two pass shaves recently, this was not unexpected. I really worked on my skin stretching, which seemed to help. Overall I'm very satisfied, particularly as I'm getting to the end of life with this blade. Two more days left on the Festival of Feather Weights! RE: SOTD - December 2021 - Tony'schin - 12-04-2021 Its going to be a struggle to post any decent pictures this month as i am running out my unmentionables. Saying that, i need to get posting again so bear with me. On a positive note, January is usually my Vintage month so there will be plenty to see then. 04/12/21 Pre - Shower Brush - Zenith 506 Copper 28mm Soap - Arran soap Co. Machrie Razor - Unmentionable Blade - Nothing to see here Post - Cold water Rinse, TC's infused Witch Hazel Balm - Arran soap Co. Machrie A/S - Arran soap Co. Machrie ![]() This morning i nudged the unmentionable to # 2.5 for the last shave with this blade, again just a 2 pass shave today, WTG and a sort of ATG - XTG mixed pass. I am amazed at how well the blade feels today, so smooth and it has given me a wonderfully comfortable shave, so much so it is not getting binned, it will be put in another razor for another run out. I do like these Arran products and i really should use them more, a great set of scents and a very nice lather, what's not to like? I keep changing my favourite from one to another and it changes each time i use them. It is always a joy to use this unmentionable, a top quality, luxury bit of kit, although it has a rep for being aggressive, i don't get that at all, mild at the bottom settings and very very efficient at the top setting, i do believe that is what an adjustable is supposed to do. I really did enjoy that! Stay safe and enjoy your day All RE: SOTD - December 2021 - Dave in KY - 12-04-2021 Saturday DecemBOAR-less 4, 2021 Razor: Unmentionable Blade: Unmentionable Brush: Dragonsbeard Soap: Ethos Dragonsbeard V3 AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70 AS 2: Ethos Dragonsbeard SFS Fragrance: Ethos Dragonsbeard EDP Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1123 So you may have seen a theme as you read down the list of what was used......................what, you didn't read it? I'll wait while you go check it out................Back now ? Good ! Yep, Dragonsbeard is my FAVORITE scent and we have a few of Frank's products in this scent as well as a bunch of other scents. Happy to have V3 in his own soap base now. I noticed that if Frank would come out with his own SS Razor, some blades and a Witch Hazel I would have all categories covered. Took the day off from boars because I MUST use the Dragonsbeard brush when I use this setup. I had a TREMENDOUS shave and smell even BETTER. I never do it but may need to groundhog day this setup tomorrow. Have a great weekend folks !! The owner of Ethos has just always liked dragons and it was his initial scent he came up with. No not dragons blood scent. You can Google it to get the scent notes as I don't have them handy. |
