Boar Brush Question - poppi - 07-08-2023 I have never really had exposure to boar brushes but would like to get 1 or 2 to give them a try. I have looked at various vendors and other online sites. I realize they are nothing like badger/synthetics and have a break in period. There is a plethora of brushes available for sure. But where do I even start? Omega? Semouge? Jaguar? Mondial? Confused for sure. Any tips/info would be greatly appreciated. RE: Boar Brush Question - Whiterook - 07-08-2023 I'd suggest getting a modest priced Omega to test the waters. I'm not that big on boar brushes, myself, so I wouldn't suggest that you jump in from the deep end. They work just fine and I was very happy with mine until a decent badger brush was purchased. RE: Boar Brush Question - GAW9576 - 07-09-2023 I used to use exclusively badger brushes and have some pretty decent ones including a SHD maggard knoted one. However once I started using boar and learned the slight differences in the technique I have switched TTO almost exclusively using Boar brushes. Personally I would suggest getting an unbleached and a bleached if you want to get two to start out with. I really like my Omega unbleached and my Zenith bleached. The great thing about Boars is that they tend to sell for a fraction of the price of a Badger. RE: Boar Brush Question - Jayaruh - 07-09-2023 Here is a brush that you may like. It is a handle I made with plywood and set with an Omega boar knot. The Omega knots are very good. Jayaruh #438 RE: Boar Brush Question - Whiterook - 07-09-2023 Jim's brushes are great. Everyone should have a couple. RE: Boar Brush Question - Wchnu - 07-14-2023 Boar is by far my favorite. Followed by horse. I love the Semogue 1305. That big Ole Omega that Jayaruh has there is also great. The break in period is no big deal. Don't get caught up in the hype. Just use the thing. It will soften up just fine. I have some new Boar brushes around. If you would like I will send you one. RE: Boar Brush Question - Wchnu - 07-14-2023 (07-09-2023, 06:39 PM)Jayaruh Wrote: Here is a brush that you may like.
