SOTD - November 2021

This razor has no blade feel at all, but you can hear it mowing down the whiskers.   It was a very smooth shave even though the blade was on its first shave.  Overall the result was a very close, comfortable shave.  Very nice!
Razor: Personna Floating Head Injector Razor
Blade: Personna Injector
Brush: Simpson Commodore X2 Best Badger
Pre-Shave: Proraso White
Lather: Fine American Blend
Aftershave: Proraso Green Splash
Additional Care:
Thayers Facial Tonic Witch Hazel Unscented
  Imperial Leather Talcum Powder

Thank you, Mr. White!

Triceratops Thursday in November!

Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather
Pre: Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave
Razor: Triceratops 3D Printed
Blade: Treet Carbon (3rd & FINAL Use)
Brush: Omega Pro 49 Boar
Lather: Tcheon Fung Sing - Red, Face Lathered
Post: Osma Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, Jeris Osage Rub, Nivea Sensitive Cooling Balm

Welcome to my Christmas themed shave in honor of our subdivision putting up Christmas lights prior to Veteran's Day...bah humbug! Next year I'm expecting Christmas lights for the Fourth of July! Angry Well, enough editorial, and now back to the shave.

A successful two pass shave, if you consider success to mean no loss of blood and completing the second pass brushing my whiskers with a not so sharp piece of metal! After yesterday, I wasn't sure what to expect. The first pass went great! For some reason this Triceratops 3D printed razor and I see eye to eye. And, the Treet carbon blade was working well enough that I thought to myself that I might get a number of more shaves out of this blade. Was I ever wrong. It all went awry on the second pass and the blade gave up the fight. In a moment of stubborn madness, I was determined to finish the shave with this blade, which I did. It was irritating in more ways than one. To summarize my experience with the Treet carbon blade, I don't expect to get more than one or possibly two shaves out of it...at least considering my tough whiskers!

On a positive note, lathering the TFS-Red was a success and I had more than enough lather in the brush for a third pass. A couple of weeks back I picked up some #18 rubber O-rings from Lowes, they have an inside diameter of 15/16th of an inch. On my image you can see one on the handle where I store it in between shaving. Prior to lathering I roll it down to the base of the knot to try and improve the backbone. This was the first time I used in on this brush and there was a slight improvement. I may try a second one. I've used it on a couple of shaves with my Semogue SOC boar with more noticeable improvement.

Tomorrow, to celebrate completion of my Treet blade test, I'm going back to a new PTFE blade and my trusty Gem Jr. w/ baton handle! Thumbsup

Sorry to hear you had a subpar shave. It rarely if ever pays off to push through a bad shave. I know from experience so don't feel to bad.
PS love the Red and Black on that shave brush.

Today I used the 1924 shovel head on a bakelite handle from a 1912. Nice combination and a great shave. Today's watch was a modified Vostok Amphibia.

Razor: One Blade Core
Blade: Feather
Brush: JT Hybrid/Boar
Soap: Highland Springs Forge
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea Deep
Fragrance: Paco Rabanne 1 Million
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,108

We've just made History here folks. Last time I used the completely same setup on consecutive days was back in 2007 when I only had my Col Conk Lime soap and whatever razor/brush I had then.................hey I'm old and can't remember. I will say that this must be the V2 One Blade as I am getting a good shave. In fact today's was stellar in all respects. The soap, the brush and the razor all performed admirably and left me where I wanted to be. I do read a lot about short blade longevity with these Feathers and wonder if the V2 is able to take a despined Gem blade? Also wondering if it requires any snipping anywhere on the blade besides the despining. If a modified Gem will work I can see this staying in the den. The Brush Definitely stays and the soap is good enough to stay too. A winner of a day and ready for some variety tomorrow now............I'm kinda sick that way with the need for some changes. New pic taken just for that reason. Thanks again jluc and jtspartan Have a stellar day Everyone !
