Did a bit of Googling and found that Jayaruh did a ER 1909 shave video with a vintage Gem blade. His video included a close-up of loading the blade and stropping the blade. 



Thanks to both of you gentlemen bringing me awareness of the ER 1909!

I've been meaning to ask you, which two passes do you do? I have tried skipping the XTG pass for my last few shaves and it doesn't seem to matter. I can't say I had noticed the XTG pass doing much for me anyway so it seems superfluous. Maybe my beard pattern is such that WTG/ATG is all I need.

Lather Catcher Sunday!
Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather
Pre: Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave
Razor: Gem Junior Bar
Blade: Gem SS PTFE (2ng Use)
Brush: Jayaruh #403 Synthetic
Lather: Phoenix & Beau (Imperial Rum), Face Lathered
Post: Generic Reformed Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel, Clubman Pinaud Lime Sec EDC, Nivea Sensitive Balm

A successful two pass shave! Can't say enough good about the Gem Jr. Bar. What a smooth shaver and there's nothing like loading up a bunch of lather and whiskers in the catcher. Rinsing off the razor is about as satisfying as the actual shave. The second use on the PTFE blade was much less harsh. On the second pass I got a bit greedy and incorporated some ATG action and picked up a few weepers. I wonder when that lesson will stick!?!?

First use of the UK's Phoenix & Beau (Imperial Rum) tallow-based soap. I have the Col. Conk bay rum, but this is a more mature, sophisticated scent. When loading the brush, it started creating lather almost immediately. The soap performed very well and I'm glad to have it. And how about that great looking label! This is the second of five soaps/creams I got in my recent Connaught Shaving buy.

The plan for tomorrow is to break my duck with an injector blade. Picked up a dispenser of Personnas in the previously mentioned buy. I have been looking at GAW9576's images and description of using these blades in a Micromatic. Looking forward to taking my MMFW/BT for a spin!

I know several people were having trouble get pictures sized right for the posts. I don't remember if you were one. I will try to make a post tomorrow with the process I use and tag you just in case.
