Next GEM up in rotation was one I fixed with a paper clip.  Still working and even better with a
fresh GEM PTFE blade in it finally.  Just a great all round shave experience.

GEM 1912 Razor - Ivory Cased Set
GEM SS PTFE Blade (1X)
Talbot Shaving Winter's Refraction Soap
AP ShaveCo 25mm STF Bronze Brush
Pinaud Classic Vanilla Splash Mix
Varon Dandy Aftershave Spritz

What's the wire on the razor???

The flat spring for the top cap was broken when I got the set.  A Newbie mistake of mine but you live and learn.
So I looked at it and figured out how the original tensioning worked.  I took a small paper clip and wound it around and through the top cap and Voila - fixed.  It snaps open and closed and holds the blade snug.

Broken or just flopping around under the cap?
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

Lather Catcher Sunday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
De Vergulde Hand Shave Soap
Jayaruh #449 Silvertip Badger (first shave)
1902 Kampfe Brothers/Star LC
Star Wedge
CWR
Derby City Chop Shop Winter Reserve After Shave

The De Vergulde Hand Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #449 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 1902 Kampfe Brothers/Star Lather Catcher and the Star Wedge blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Derby City Chop Shop Winter Reserve After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
