Awesome to join us for SEptember old friend! And you seem to be  an efficient shaver - you have covered tomorrow’s  GEM as well!! Taking a peak at Jayaruh’s 1st post of the lineup for week 1 I’m getting ready for the open comb Damaskeene tomorrow - and you got it covered! I know you have a sweeeeeet pile of razors. I would bet you could ride right along for SE month if you are in the mood!?! And you don’t need use what Jayaruh is using - any Single Edge would qualify! Maybe an awesome Dr Scott Electric - or if feeling rich that day a titanium Wolfman! Schick? Zinn Auto? : )

Saturday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Derby Shave Cream
Jayaruh #1 Silvertip Badger
GEM Damaskeene OC
Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade
CWR
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Pinaud Clubman

The Derby Shave Cream was face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #1 Silvertip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the GEM Damaskeene  OC and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Clubman After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

SEptember is a fun month!!

A U.S. GEM Damaskeene open comb, a German 30mm Heinrich L. Thater badger &  a Canadian Black Bear fat soap - formidable foes supporting the flag. Tossed in some vintage Bay Rum, unknown age/maker.

Great shave today! The old Bay Rum is awesome.

SEptember Latcher Catcher Sunday - the Double Whammy!

I can’t quite match today’s selection of a Superior branded lather catcher, but I can use one of the family. JR’s Superior razor sports an August 1900 patent by August Scheuber (I always wonder if he planned the timing on that one!) which was owned by the infamous Zinn family. There were multiple razor frames manufactured under this patent - Clover, Superior, Antiseptic, Gem Junior and the early GEM Jr Bar, such as the Elite set I have chosen for today. These different razors were most likely manufactured by the same New York gang, although the Superior mostly shows up in later models/sets near the first WW. Nonetheless, this is the best I can do to complement today’s choice. If anyone has info to add or correct, please do!

Early GEM Elite, a nice old 1900s scuttle, and I used a puck of old Williams bar to round up the soap bowl.

I took a page out of WCHUs routine and did a third pass with Witch Hazel (Thayers). Starting to really enjoy the third pass fine tune! I love Lather Catcher Sundays

SEptember 2025 week 2
Another stellar razor pick by Jayaruh. I am a big fan of Rose scented soaps. Unfortunately my ultimate fav company Truefitt & Hill totally wilted when they discontinued the world’s greatest rose scented shave product (ymmv). But those Brits have some other secrets up their sleeve so I went with Trumpers. A wonderful boar brush, unknown maker, likely from the 1950s. Time to replace the blade again and move onwards. Also some Pinaud talc to take off the shine. Will be a GEM of a shave!

SEptember! Yeah!

I peeked over at Jayaruh Shaving and saw todays pick - British ER Peerless. I can’t quite nail that one because of the handle, but I can do one of his Peers!
British ER late model 1912, Palmolive  soap sent to me from Britain by a long ago member here, Tom, (thanks Tom!) a european Omega and a little old Bay Rum. Happy Shaves indeed! (I am not around for next 1-2 days so will need a fresh blade next time for sure).
