The blade was sort-of injected (Proline B-20 blade inserted with a pair of needle nose pliers). The soap was Valobra Fougere, lathered with a Yaqi Timberwolf.
A 3-pass DFS+ with no touch-ups required, no blood and no irritation. This razor really rings all 3 bells for me:
I'm posting a pic with the cap on (which you rarely see in SOTD pics).....
- It's vintage (1926-1927) with an interesting history, thanks to Lt. Colonel Schick and his penchant for the repeating rifle.
- It's cool looking. Folding head and a top cap, the whole thing is made for travel, but has a nice substantial feel in the hand. The body appears to be aluminium, but the head is brass -- the whole thing is built well and very classy looking (IMO).
- It shaves REALLY well. It balances efficiency and comfort, and it manages to do so without really sacrificing one over the other. If I could have ONLY one Schick -- well, lets be honest, I'm NEVER going to have ONLY one Schick -- but this one is definitely in the Top 3.
And with the cap off and the head in the "shave ready" position:
There are a few razors that make me a little jealous when I see them. That is definitely one of them. I believe you have 2 more of the top 4. The Gem Zinn being one I know you have. The other I believe you have is a Schick type F.
Beautiful gear and great pictures my friend.
