SEptember 2025 Lather Catcher Sunday #3
Had an enjoyable Sunday Lather Catcher shave. I don’t have a Heljestrand safety razor (I know! Right?
) but I couldn’t use yesterdays razor. I chose a very early GEM, one of the first really. I loaded it with the Heljestrand wedge I sharpened up for the last lather catcher. A bit of stropping and it was pretty good. So, I am indeed shaving with a Heljestrand after all! A bit tuggier than I would like, but sometimes I need just settle for an ok shave with these wonderful beasts. Sharpening is sometimes more mystery than art.
I went with a Copper Hat custom badger brush and a Copper Hat Bay Rum puck for suds. Enjoyable shave.
Lather Catcher Sunday - this has stuck with me for maybe 6 or 7 years now because of Tost. I think it will stick around.
