You may have this confused with the 3 piece 7 O'Clock or I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

There is a handle with a three post cap screwed onto it, that three hole baseplate will give you a complete frankenrazor.
Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.
