SOTD - June 2023
#71
Shaving the past week with the new formula Mitchell's Woolfat sans the tabac. The earlier shaves were with unmentionables, today I went grandpa retro and picked up the wonderful Gem Junior with a Persona Gem PTFE blade with couple of shaves on it.

I am.comcluding that while the original MWF was the real deal for some great super slick lather, the new formula is surprisingly good and slick. I've got only good things to say about this new formula.

It even develops that surface crazing like the old formula!!

Unmentionable
Barbasol AS

The Vintage Life Morning TOST Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #206 2-band Badger brush. Two passes and touch ups with an Unmentionable Razor gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Dedicating today's shave to my brother in law who passed away 24th early morning due to complexities of a heart surgery.

RIP Loknath - you'll be missed

Razor : Razorock Eco
Blade : Crown half DE
Soap : New Formula MWF
Brush : Bila boar bristle wood handle
Post shave: Alum + Yardley Gold AS

The new formula has really grown on me. It's a wonderful and capable successor to the tallow formula. I've a stock of tallow MWF which will last me a while, once it's gone - I'll br happy to buy the new formula.

I also had the opportunity to try out the the new formula with hard underground water. The performance was nearly identical to how the old formul behaves. In the hard water I get to use from time to time, the tallow formula residual slickness drops quite a bit and needs more lather to shave. Similar experience with the new formula.
