Pre: Shower
Brush: Silver Birch Brushes - Cocobolo
Soap: Signature Soap Danum
Razor: Vector / SS Hawk "A"
Blade: Feather PB (1) / (1)
Post shave: Cold water splash, TC's Infused Witch Hazel
Balm: Barts Balm Cinnamon & Patchouli Balm & Lotion
Aftershave: Signature Soap Danum
Comparing the Vector and Hawk today, shaving one side of the face with each,
Both very smooth, both feel nice on the skin during the shave. Very little between them as far as the shave finish goes.
The Vector is a lot more manoeuvrable due to the smaller head and seems more balanced as the Hawk seems a bit top heavy and wants to "drop / twist" forward, probably due to the Over-hang of the offset head.
Saying that the A plate shaves very similarly in terms of efficiency, i found the STD plate was too mild during the first couple of trial passes.
Do i need one? probably not. Is it worth having one - Most definitely.
So a BBS comfortable finish, i will see how they go for a few more shaves and how the blades react.
Stay Safe and enjoy your day All.

My youngest son, 40, was over yesterday with his four kids. We had a blast. A funny thing happened. He actually expressed an interest in getting a shave with vintage stuff. Well, I pounced on that. I broke out some Tabac, my Jayaruh #2 two-band badger brush, and my 1905 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher. He did use hot water though. Sissy. Well, I talked him through it. He enjoyed making lather on his face, and he ended up doing two passes. He finished off with Aqua Velva. It was fun having him take a shave with the good stuff. He took pictures with his camera, but I haven't gotten any yet.

That is good to hear! Your son is lucky! I am a big fan of the Aqua Velva Ice Blue and Tabac.

So today I was pondering weather to go with a Push Button shave or go really old school with a Lather Catcher shave. Well I just couldn't decide. Then I did decide, on both. These two razors are near opposite ends of the Gems age spectrum. At first I thought this was going to be an Odd Couple pairing of razors but I was surprised how good these two look together.
I used the Gem Junior Bar on the front of my neck and on my beard line and the Push Button on the back of my neck. This turned out to be a very close enjoyable shave.

Pre: Shower
Brush: Alpha Outlaw Titanium G4 Synth
Soap: Ariana & Evans L'Orange Verte
Razor: Vector / Stainless Hawk "A" Plate
Blade: Feather PB (2 / 2)
Post shave: Alum rub, Cold water splash, TC's Infused Witch Hazel
Balm: Barts Balm Lime Balm & Lotion
Aftershave: Mäurer & Wirtz 4711 EDC
Day 2 of the comparison, before that i thought i should say that last night as the beard was coming through the Hawk side was definitely "rougher" than the Vector side. This morning it was visibly noticeable.
Just in case, and because all blades are different, and because i can, in the name of fair play, i swapped the blades.
Exactly the same as yesterday, 3 passes half n Half, the Vector LH and the Hawk RH.
Today i could have got away with 2 passes and touch up with the Vector, although Hawk side needed a bit more, therefore i completed a "Gunpowder" pass with both razors whereas whatever is left is very fine, deffo less indication in the removed Vector lather.
As i now had a very close shave i gave the whole face an Alum rub - Nothing at all.
So a BBS comfortable finish and the Face feeling begins.
PS, Lovely accompaniments from the soap, brush and post shave routine.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

This is a video I made of my son's shave yesterday with the Gem Jr. and Tabac. It was his first vintage shave. You can hear the grandkids and grandma in the background. It was a fun activity.
