Razor: Clauss Automatic Safety Razor
Blade: Gem Carbon Steel (2)/Gem Personna SS (1)
Brush: Rubberset 400/Cashmere
Soap: T&S Sicily 1508.5
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Ethos Fresh Lime
Fragrance: Paco Rabanne 1 Million

You know when you have a shave and everything just comes together. The scent of the soap is amazing, the lather is spot on and feels soooo good, you have Lather Talk Podcast playing in the background about the new Backland Era @blacklandrazors , the razor is a cool piece of history or the latest modern razor out and it's smooth as butter............................This wasn't that shave AT ALL !  Big Grin Big Grin  Well, it was all that except the Carbon Steel blade was just giving me stalls while trying to shave like a 1979 Chevy Chevette. After 2 passes of tugging I switched to a SS Gem and it was cutting thru the whiskers and getting me the BBS shave I desire. Problem is I was bloodier than Peewee Herman in a box fighting with a pack of Rabid Cats. I can't remember the last time I was this tore up and I mean in years ! So I'm not sure if it was the carbon steel blade and how rough it was. Trust me at how bad it was because I NEVER stop and change blades mid shave and had to. Or was it how aggressive the Clauss is. I think it's a pretty aggressive razor but can be tamed and I will but it will need to be respected. While I had the CS blade in it I was thinking this was a purchase that's one shave and into the collector status of sitting because it's a cool piece of history but I wouldn't want to shave with it. After putting the SS blade in I felt well okay now we have a shaver but she wants some respect and care given to her. A cool razor that I'm happy to have grace my den. Looking forward to twhite Tom's thoughts on his shave with his today ! I have not missed a day of shaving since I started keeping track in 2 and a half years but this shave has me contemplating skipping a day tomorrow..........................NAH, I'll get back to again tomorrow. Finished off with some Fresh Lime SFS by Ethos for repairs of the skin. Off to coffee and a piece of pie while forum reading before work. Jab 2 of the Pfizer shot was received yesterday and came home to weed whacking the hill/yard and mowing the grass. So far just a sore arm. Have a great day Everyone !!

It is definitely an aggressive razor. I will be using a fresh CS blade. I am one of the few who does not care for the SS blades. Now I an a bit concerned about excessive bleeding tonight. I can’t wait to try it now.

Thanks, I'm just glad it wasn't me losing my mind or technique. I think we'll get along with a SS Gem but she's an aggressive beauty for sure.

I think I remember Tom talking about that razor before. That one looks to be in pretty good shape.

Oh and there is not need to try to set up a secret handshake with twhite. He forgets them all the time.
Happy shaves to ya!

That looks like a really great setup. Thanks for the picture. I am in the "more aggressive is better" camp here. Tame that one!!! I get my second shot in  week or so. My arm was a lot more sore then it gets from just a regular flue shot.
Happy shaves to ya!

Thanks Fuzzy, it will be tamed and appreciated. I've often been accused of liking aggressive razors. I don't think so but I do like ones that get me eel slippery smooth. Hooe all goes well with your 2nd shot to. Someone told me being active after getting it was good for keeping it from pooling in the shot area and spreads it around. Not sure if any truth to that but no ill effects here.

Ok shave is done. I ended up using my blade that was in it. That would be shave 3 on the blade. I had 4 days growth to shave. Lathered up with some Haslinger and went to town. This razor requires a very flat angle. Think MMOC but the MM a milder shave.

One will benefit with a VERY light touch and ride the cap. I finished a 3 pass shave with a DFS no leaking of blood. Great razor that requires respect.
